- Low-temperature guns (approx. 250 °F / 120 °C) protect heat-sensitive materials like Styrofoam, thin balloons, and delicate lace from melting. High-temperature guns (approx. 380 °F / 190 °C) provide deeper flow and stronger holding power on wood, cardboard, and plastics.
- Why does hot melt glue fail inside parked cars during hot summer days?
- Standard EVA hot melt glue is a thermoplastic with zero chemical cross-linking. When parked vehicle cabins reach 140 °F (60 °C), the glue reaches its softening point, liquifies, and completely releases bonded trim.
- Why does hot glue peel right off smooth metal and cold glass surfaces in one sheet?
- Cold metal and glass rapidly conduct heat away, quenching the molten glue before it can wet the surface. Pre-warming the substrate helps, but structural epoxy is far superior for non-porous materials.
