Using it

How to Use Hot melt glue (EVA)

  1. 01Allow the glue gun to reach full operating temperature for 5 minutes before dispensing.
  2. 02Work quickly to press surfaces together within 15 seconds before the extruded bead skins over and cools.
  3. 03Ideal for cardboard craft packaging, temporary woodworking jigs, and low-stress fabric or foam fixtures.
  4. 04Keep away from direct summer sunlight and high-heat appliance surfaces.

Questions

Common Questions About Hot melt glue (EVA)

What is the difference between high-temperature and low-temperature hot glue guns?
Low-temperature guns (approx. 250 °F / 120 °C) protect heat-sensitive materials like Styrofoam, thin balloons, and delicate lace from melting. High-temperature guns (approx. 380 °F / 190 °C) provide deeper flow and stronger holding power on wood, cardboard, and plastics.
Why does hot melt glue fail inside parked cars during hot summer days?
Standard EVA hot melt glue is a thermoplastic with zero chemical cross-linking. When parked vehicle cabins reach 140 °F (60 °C), the glue reaches its softening point, liquifies, and completely releases bonded trim.
Why does hot glue peel right off smooth metal and cold glass surfaces in one sheet?
Cold metal and glass rapidly conduct heat away, quenching the molten glue before it can wet the surface. Pre-warming the substrate helps, but structural epoxy is far superior for non-porous materials.
How can you cleanly remove hot glue without damaging underlying surfaces?
Apply a few drops of 70%+ isopropyl alcohol around the glue perimeter. Alcohol wicks along the interface, releasing the mechanical suction and allowing the hardened rubber plug to pop off cleanly.
