How to Glue Fabric to Plastic
Use Flexible fabric adhesive for most fabric-to-plastic joints. Stays soft across a light-duty seam and grips a compatible prepared plastic.

Why Flexible fabric adhesive Works
- Soft, porous, and constantly flexing — the adhesive has to stay flexible too, or the seam becomes a stiff ridge that cracks.
- Two very different families hide under one word. Rigid PVC, ABS, and acrylic bond well; waxy PP and PE shrug off ordinary adhesives.
- Stays soft so the seam can still bend and fold.
- Only when the other side is cloth: flexible enough for a fabric-to-plastic seam, far too weak for a structural one.

Other Adhesives That Work
A visible flexible seal for movement, water, or outdoor exposure, not a loaded seam.

Water-resistant but prone to foaming through the weave, so it belongs only in a hidden light-duty joint.

Questions
Common Questions About Gluing Fabric to Plastic
- Can you glue fabric to plastic?
- Yes on a compatible plastic after you identify it — the same if plastic is going onto cloth. Flexible fabric adhesive stays soft on a light seam; polypropylene and polyethylene need a primer system, not ordinary glue.
- Does super glue stick fabric to plastic?
- It can stain, stiffen the cloth, and still fail on low-energy plastics. Keep cyanoacrylate for small rigid plastic repairs, not a wrap or upholstery seam.
- Can glue hold a fabric strap to plastic?
- Not by itself. A strap is a peeling, loaded seam. Stitch, rivet, or clamp a mechanical anchor; adhesive can only keep the interface from shifting.
- What glue if the fabric-to-plastic seam gets wet or flexes?
- Silicone when a flexible seal is acceptable and the product names both materials. Keep a mechanical load path if the seam also carries pull.
