Best bet

The standard for glass shelves and metal brackets — rigid and clear-curing.

Preparation

Prep each side differently

Clean the glass with alcohol until water sheets off it flat.

Scuff and degrease the metal — polished metal is the weak link.

Conditions

If the joint carries weight in shear (a shelf), add mechanical support — glue alone creeps over time. Big temperature swings favor silicone.
